About Adaptations

About US

The Adaptations Committee recognizes and encourages the development of works adapted from the core AVP methodology and workshops. Our purpose is to welcome innovators to network, collaborate, share mutual benefits, and promote a more widespread use of AVP, AVP-based processes, and related transforming practices.

Who We Are

We are a dedicated group of AVP facilitators who have used AVP in other areas of our lives (outside of AVP groups) and with other populations. We continue to grow the AVP community through our innovative and collaborative efforts with AVP USA and other organizations that are working toward shared goals.

Where We Started

For many years, AVP USA recognized only the traditional core workshops (Basic, Advanced, and T4F) and some shorter variations as “AVP.” A number of groups had adapted AVP for other populations and purposes through the years, but the benefits of those innovations were largely lost to AVP groups because they were not shared in the traditional view of what constituted an AVP workshop.

In 2015, a “Spin-Offs” team was formed at the Tacoma, Washington National Gathering to define what would be acceptable Adaptations of AVP and to describe the mutual benefits to AVP USA and to those individuals and organizations that were creating adaptations.

In 2017, the team was renamed and officially recognized as the Adaptations Committee within AVP USA.

What We Do

We are working to identify individuals and groups that are offering Adaptations, categorize the types of Adaptations (topics, audiences) and to promote Adaptations of AVP through our website, listserv, and other opportunities to network with each other and share best practices.

We are also identifying ways to help Adaptations to reach new audiences and to distribute innovative processes and products that have been created as a result of developing Adaptations.

As a community devoted to creativity and innovation, we will share what we learn within AVP USA and beyond.
